Давным-давно жил на свете демон по имени Хираньякша. Он был младшим братом Хираньякашипу. Он сделал так, что Земля постепенно начала погружаться в воды мирового океана.
Господь Брахма, создавший вселенную, чувствовал себя беспомощным, он не знал, что делать! Наконец он отправился к Господу Вишну и принял у него прибежище.
Когда господь Брахма медитировал, из его ноздри возник маленький вепрь. Он был размером с кончик его носа. Маленький вепрь рос и рос, пока не заполнил Своим гигантским телом всю вселенную. Он громогласно рычал. Все боги и святые были очень удивлены и напуганы.
Господь Брахма сказал: «Интересно, Кто это? Я думаю, что это Верховная Личность Бога. Он явился нам чудесным образом».
Звук Его рыка был очень сладостен и благотворен.
Господь Брахма, Сваямбхува Ману и другие мудрецы, жившие на разных планетах, таких как Джаналока, Тапалока и Сатьялока, стали воспевать особые ведические мантры, чтобы почтить Господа. И Господь Вишну явился, чтобы спасти Землю от уничтожения.
Перед тем как войти в воду, Господь вознесся в небеса и взмахнул хвостом, волосы Господа встали дыбом на Его плечах, и Он ударил ногами облака, так что они разлетелись во все стороны по небу. Он был более чем прекрасен. Его клыки сияли ярче, чем миллион солнц. Это был Господь Хари, Господь Вишну, и это была Его лила, Его божественная игра.
Господь Вараха прыгнул в океан Расатала и подхватил Землю. Океан взмолился Господу Варахе: «О Всевышний, пожалуйста, защити меня!»
Тогда Господь поднял Землю из воды на Своих клыках и поместил ее на поверхности океана, где она плавала раньше.
Тем временем демон Хираньякша напал на Господа с огромной палицей и другим оружием. Господь Вараха убил демона в воде так, как крокодил убивает слона. Лицо и тело Господа были красны от крови демона.
Святые и Господь Брахма вознесли особые молитвы, чтобы почтить Господа Вараху, и Он был очень доволен.
Господь Вараха ки джайа!
йатродйатах̣ кш̣ити-талоддхаран̣а̄йа бибхрат
крауд̣ӣм̇ танум̇ сакала-йаджн̃а-майӣм анантах̣
антар-маха̄рн̣ава упа̄гатам а̄ди-даитйам̇
там̇ дам̇ш̣т̣райа̄дрим ива ваджра-дхаро дада̄ра

Once long ago there lived a demon named Hiranyaksa. He was the younger brother of Hiranyakasipu and he caused the earth to fall more and more in the water at the bottom of the universe.
Lord Brahma who created the universe felt helpless, he didn’t know what to do! Finally he went to Lord Vishnu and took shelter of Him.
While lord Brahma was still meditating a tiny boar appeared out of his nostril. He was as small as the tip of his nose. The little boar grew and grew until He filled up the entire universe with His giant body. He roared and roared tremendously. All the demigods and saints were very terrified and very astonished.
Lord Brahma said: “I wonder Who this is. I think it is the Supreme Personality of Godhead. He appeared to us in a fantastic way.” The sound of His roar was so sweet and caused everyone’s problems to disappear.
Lord Brahma, Svayambhuva Manu and other sages who lived on different planets like: Janaloka, Tapaloka and Satyaloka all chanted special Vedic mantras to please the Lord. Lord Vishnu had come to save the earth from destruction.
Before the Lord entered the water He rose to the sky and He lashed His tail. The Lord’s hairs rose on His shoulders and He kicked the clouds so they scattered. He looked more than beautiful, more radiant than millions of suns with His shining tusks. He was Lord Hari, Lord Vishnu and this was His lila, His divine play.
Lord Varaha jumped in the Rasatala ocean to pick up the planet earth. The ocean prayed unto Lord Varaha: “O Supreme Lord, please protect me.”
The Lord then lifted up the earth out of the water with His tusks and He set the earth on top of the surface, where it floated.
Meanwhile the demon Hiranyaksa attacked the Lord with a giant club and other weapons. Lord Varaha killed the demon in the water just like a crocodile kills an elephant. The Lord’s face and body were red with the demons blood.
The saints and Lord Brahma all said special prayers to please Lord Varaha. The Lord was very happy.
Lord Varaha ki jaya!
yatrodyataḥ kṣiti-taloddharaṇāya bibhrat
krauḍīṁ tanuṁ sakala-yajña-mayīm anantaḥ
antar-mahārṇava upāgatam ādi-daityaṁ
taṁ daṁṣṭrayādrim iva vajra-dharo dadāra
(Srimad-Bhagavatam, 2.7.1)
“The Lord with His unlimited powers took the form of a boar in order to save the earth from destruction and He pierced the demon Hiranyaksa with His tusks.”
