Our Aim is Bhakti

29 January 2009
Kolkata, India

This is season change time and this year season not come. It is winter and too much garment I have but one garment I cannot use. Only this for protect, not for warmth.

Mahānanda Prabhu: Young Rāja Rām is very happy with his name, Gurudev.

Śrīla Govinda Mahārāj: Very good. Famous song in his name in India, raghupati raghava rāja rāma, patita-pāvana sītā rāma. Ha ha. [Young boy runs up to Gurudev and Gurudev pats his head sweetly.] Very good! Our new generation is very very glorious. I am seeing all the young group is very enthusiastic doing many things. But now Gaura-purṇimā coming and so many devotees are coming from outside. Here is space also very short. It is actually transit station. Come to stay to three days, then go to Nabadwīp. Then space will be harmonize. But devotee have much love for me, then they wants to stay with me. And actually I have no room but, some way. Nityānanda Prabhu’s birthplace in birthday I wants to go but which way it will be possible I do not know. Not possible any way I am thinking. It also necessary to see what happen there, what done there. I am from here only instructing, “Do this, do that, do that.” But what they done, I think so done very good. Not so many room, 32 rooms there. Good, 32 small flat, room inside there bathroom, little kitchen. Do anything, do for the devotee, and Kṛṣṇa will be happy.

mad-bhaktānā cha ye bhaktās
te me bhakta-tamā matā

ye me bhakta-janā pārtha
na me bhaktāś cha te janā
ḥ…1

“Who is thinking, ‘I am a devotee,’ really I am not considering as devotee him. But who is devotee of My devotee, I consider he is the best devotee.”

Then service is our life. Guru Mahārāj from my childhood that training given, “Serve to the Vaiṣṇava, give your service and without enviousness.” Enviousness is very bad. “You are doing much good for me, I must consider you are greater than my job doing.” Not to be envious. Āchāryya Mahārāj doing so much. I cannot do. I am praising him. I am not abusing.

But when you will do something, something wrong right must be, something wrong something right must be because we are not complete wise. “To err is human,” Guru Mahārāj told in his article. But everything, everybody, wants to be full. Trying, trying with heart and soul [charasmatic hand/head movement].

How is Sureśwarī dd?

Sureśwarī dd: Good, Gurudev.

Śrīla Govinda Mahārāj: One exclusive channel you have taken. But that is very very finest realization there. Very very finest. One is dark, one is lighten world. Dark world is māyā. Śrīla Prabhupād Back to Godhead heading given some light and some...

Śrutaśravā Prabhu: “Godhead is light, nescience is darkness.”

Śrīla Govinda Mahārāj: The Godhead is light, that light, really will be lightened to me when I am fully surrendered. This is fact. One thing always giving me super happiness, if I am asking to Yudhamanya Prabhu, “Prabhu do this or do that.” “You want?” Then happen. Like that. No other question. “You want or not?” This is our target.

āśliya vā pāda-ratā pinaṣṭu mām
adarśanān marma-hatā
karotu vā
yathā tathā vā vidadhātu lampa
o
mat-prā
a-nāthas tu sa eva nāpara2

“He can do anything and everything. He have right. But I am always His servitor’s servitor’s servitor. I have no other [idea, ego?].”

That is my right. I can remove Baladev sometimes from His chair! This given in Bhakti- rasāmta-sindhu. “Baladev you sit there! I am cleaning Your chair.” [Laughter]. Like this. Who is translating Rasāmta-sindhu, Rām Gopāl Vidyābhūṣaṇa. He cannot understand, Baladev will be removed by force? Guru Mahārāj said, “Yes! If necessary for making more decorated to His chair His servitor can say it.” This is fact. Fundamental basis of our exclusive line must be realize more and more. Little realization cannot give satisfaction, must be realize more and more. And it will come from the creation to demolition. But creation where started, destruction [must, last? 16:10] be finished is there happening. [Tat abhimān?]. Abhimān mane ego, ego not that is proper.

Śrutaśravā Prabhu: Pride?

Śrīla Govinda Mahārāj: Anyhow, we simply try to understand creation. Then we can feel our line, nowhere any other process. But Lord Śiva you see, he is in the middle, he is controlling all creation's situation. And Kṛṣṇa, He is the creator. It is a very high thought. You maybe understand or not.

Anyhow, our line finally gone to the Rūpa Goswāmī. That means so may devotee of Mahāprabhu in the time of Mahāprabhu, everyone respected, everyone worshipped. But Mahāprabhu recognize to Rūpa Goswāmī. And Mahāprabhu Himself told, “I have given everything to him and from that reservoir you can take [that?].” And Rūpa Goswāmī Prabhu fully ecstatic mood given us that madhura-rasa. It is very very miracle to us but come by the grace of Mahāprabhu. Mahāprabhu Himself shown,

śrī-rādhāyā praaya-mahimā kīdśo vānayaivā-
svādyo yenādbhuta-madhurimā kīd
śo vā madīya
saukhya
chāsyā mad-anubhavata kīdśa veti lobhāt
tad-bhāvā
hya samajani śachī-garbha-sindhau harīndu3

And another śloka if you follow that also, style like that.

vaikuṇṭhāj janito varā madhu-purī…4

Janito varā mane creation, there also. What creation? [Part?], Lord Kṛṣṇa is aja, He have no birth, no death. But when He is taking līlāyāLīlāyā what English?

Śrutaśravā Prabhu: Pastimes.

Śrīla Govinda Mahārāj: Birth, born baby in Mathurā, name Mother Devakī. That is the best, that is better than Vaikuṇṭha.

vaikuṇṭhāj janito varā madhu-purī…

Then creation dancing.

…tatrāpi rāsotsavād
v
ndārayam udāra-pāi-ramaāt tatrāpi govardhana
rādhā-ku
ṇḍam ihāpi gokula-pate premāmtāplāvanāt
kuryād asya virājato giri-ta
e sevā vivekī na ka

Then necessary to search inside something what we do not know. But powerful jewel is there, we, through our sādhana, that is Nām-sakīrttan sādhana, no other sādhana. Mantram bhur bhuvasya tat savitur…”, that mantram taking us up to brahma-loka generally. But Guru Mahārāj’s explanation is another way given. He is the supreme commentator no doubt. He is controlling whole Scriptural note within one word, akhila-rasāmta-mūrti5.

Akhila-rasāmta-mūrti, rasa! Rasa five kind of principle style and seven kind of general style, secondary. Śānta, dāsya, sakhya, vātsalya, madhura, this five. And, hāsya, adbhuta, vīra, karua, raudra, bībhatsa, bhaya6. Seven. But all controlled by one [thought?]. And they are playing each other with happily kissing! We have seen a pot, baby fish and so may baby fish inside pot and they are playing inside there. Like that. Why there? Why we know. I am asking why but why we know because,

āhāra-nidrā-bhaya-maithuna cha…7

This four we are captured with this four, mane eating, sleeping, fearing, enjoying, this kind of mood always with us. But we not search anywhere. When time and fortune favorably come to us we can inquire, we can research that. And our research going to madhura-rasa. Akhila-rasāmta, so many rasa but all rasa merge into madhura-rasa. And it is miracle, all Scriptures said like that! All Scriptures aid that. Vedānta-darśan composed by Vedavyās, he also wrote,

athāto brahma jijñhāsā8

Then second sūtram,

janmādy asya yata9

Then,

raso vai saḥ…10

“He is creator of all creation with sweetness.”

raso vai saḥ…

And Śrīmad Bhāgavata started from rasa.

raso vai saḥ…

nigama-kalpa-taror galita phala
śuka-mukhād am
ta-drava-sayutam
pibata bhāgavata
rasam ālaya
muhur aho rasikā bhuvi bhāvukā
11

Ālayam means here until death you will try to taste and again and again it will be tasteful to you. And it is very truth! Śrīmad Bhagavad-gītā I read many times many where, but every time new meanings coming and new means other meanings not suppressed, other meanings overflowing! This way coming meanings. Very good.

And Mahāprabhu shown last life’s style position can go up to where? Where Chāṇḍī Dās, that position. Chāṇḍī Dās not brāhmaa, he is brāhmaa but his job was more than worst, more than worst of śūdra. Everywhere this type of expose, explanation given in the Scriptures but supremely glorious rasa, and madhura-rasa. Kavirāj Goswāmī said,

ākāśādi gua yena para para bhūte
eka-dui-tina-chāri krame pa
ñcha pthivīte12

Ākāśa, [vātāśa, agni?], jala, i, they all the qualities within the madhura-rasa. Sarva‑rasa samāhāra, Guru Mahārāj’s English, “Emporium of all rasa.” But not to be misguided, not to be misguide, not to be misguided; not to misuse, not misuse, not to misuse. Everything do, do for Kṛṣṇa. Not do for you. Very heavy thought. I am hungry and one cucumber given to me, I shall think it is for Kṛṣṇa I am eating. Very difficulty! But it will be senses, one time I remember meditation, I am doing few times meditation. Through meditation I wants to be cool. Hot day, then I stayed [makes a meditation posture with hands, face, torso] and thinking Badrinārāyaṇa. There is coolness, and that feelings I have. Many times I went there, then I am thinking I am in Badrinārāyaṇa [ketra?]. Gradually my body become cold and mind become cold, everything become cool. I was surprise, “What is this! Its possible!?” Then I asked to Guru Mahārāj, “This happen Mahārāj, what happened Mahārāj?” Guru Mahārāj said, “Yes, strong meditation can catch that situation.” Then everything you can do no doubt. But bhakti-yoga they are not telling to do that way. Your normal stepping will be in the bhakti-yoga.

yat karoi yad aśnāsi
yaj juho
i dadāsi yat
yat tapasyasi kaunteya
tat kuru
va mad-arpaam13

Anything you are doing you are doing for Kṛṣṇa. This feelings when will come then you will be fully established in your spiritual platform, service platform. And our devotee section I have seen, I watch, they are much advance with that. They do not know realization which way it is happening. But happen through that through them. It is prove not one time, many time. And I am the evidence. I can say but not saying [hand movement back and forth from heart area]. Then can and possible. For that all the religious sweet people praising our devotee. We are fortunate that we have got anyway relation with Śrīla Guru Mahārāj and continuing. We are not so great paṇḍit or we are not so big practitioner. What we have, five rupees, or five pound or five dollar, we are making business with that five rupees, making business five dollar. We have no difficulty. And I am seeing they are very happy. What can I say more!

Jaya Guru Mahārāj ki jaya!

And superior to the forest of Vṛndāvana is Govardhana Hill, for it was raised by the divine hand of Śrī Kṛṣṇa and was the site of His various loving pastimes. And, above all, the superexcellent Śrī Rādhā-kuṇḍa stands supreme, for it is overflooded with the ambrosial nectarean prema of the Lord of Gokula, Śrī Kṛṣṇa.

Oṁ Viṣṇupа̄d
Śrīla Bhakti Sundar Govinda Dev-Goswāmī Mahārāj
